Fr Robert William Devine was born on June 23rd 1932 in Donagheady. He was educated at Dooatt PS, Dunamanagh and St Columb's College, Derry. He studied for the Priesthood at St Patrick's College, Maynooth and was ordained a Priest on 23rd June 1957.

After ordination he was appointed to St Patrick's, Pennyburn and served in St Columb's College until 1971. He then taught in St Patrick's, Maghera, where he served as principal from 1974 until 1993. He then went to the USA to undertake a year of Scripture Studies. On return he served as Curate in Strabane until 1995.

He was appointed Parish Priest of Langfield (Drumquin) and served there until 2002. He next moved to Killygordon when he was appointed as Parish Priest of Donaghmore, where he served until 2008 and remained as a priest in residence. In his latter days he was cared for in Nazareth House, Fahan.
