Responding to the "urgent call" of Pope Francis in his 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home, a group has been formed in the diocese. Its purpose is to reflect on, and aid, a faith response to ecological issues, both local and global.

One of the group's main aims, therefore, is to help parishes and parishioners make the connection between our lives of faith and responding to the ongoing desecration of God's creation for, as Pope Francis reminds us: "Our relationship with the environment can never be isolated from our relationship with others and with God."

As a group, one of its aims is to help make available on a regular basis, some educational and liturgical resources for use in parishes.

The Laudato Si Derry Diocesan Group is being launched by Bishop Donal on Monday 6th November at 7pm in Ardmore Pastoral Centre with guest speaker Sr Nellie McLaughlin RSM. Light Refreshments will be served at the event.
