Director of Catechesis and Faith Mentor
The parish of Buncrana is seeking to recruit an energetic and highly motivated individual to fulfil the pioneering role of Director of Catechesis and Faith Mentor.This is a full-time permanent role, in a large and varied parish.
ABOUT THE JOB
Under the general guidance of the Parish Priest, facilitates the development and growth of the faith of local people of all backgrounds, ages and creeds by encouraging a deeper understanding of the Catholic Religion and awakening faith in those no longer experiencing God's love in their lives.The Catechesis and faith development will be underpinned by a strategic plan, developed through consultation, and will be implemented in an effective, engaging and proactive manner, in line with the spirit of the parish.
ABOUT THE PERSON
APPLICANTS MUST DEMONSTRATE
- Deep Catholic spirituality to include a real understanding and experience of the rich tradition of Catholic life, faith practice and prayer
- An understanding and ability to communicate the love of God through the experience of personal prayer and parish liturgy
- A clear understanding of pastoral care and boundaries
- Experience of coordination and development of music ministry
- An ability to work on their own initiative
- An ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent organisational skills
- Flexibility to work on evenings and weekends when required
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- A degree in education or theology or any other related discipline
- Similar project experience, of at least two years' duration in a leadership role
- A demonstrable knowledge of the content of the Catholic faith and its practise in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Proficiency in a musical instrument, orchestration and directing choirs
- Active involvement in the spiritual and sacramental life of the Catholic Church at parish level
