Today is Communications Sunday.

Pope Francis said,
“The human person grows more, matures more and is sanctified more to the extent that he or she enters into relationships, going out from themselves to live in communion with God, with others and with all creatures.”

During this present emergency and ironically at a time of unparalleled access to electronic forms of communication, the loneliness felt by those who have to stay at home, distanced from others is palpable. This is a real concern for us as a Christian Community, used to attending church together, visiting family and friends and enjoying the beauty of nature, doing ordinary things.

What can we do for one another? Is there some small gesture God is prompting us to do today?

Perhaps it is praying for people, knowing that God always wants to give His love and comfort to all who suffer the pain of isolation?

Perhaps it is the seemingly small gesture of making a phone call to someone living alone so that they can engage with the voice of a human being?

Perhaps it is asking someone in your street how they are managing and listening for the answer, acknowledging their presence.

It may be that we engage with nature, looking and seeing, listening and hearing. It is always about relationship - taking time to be in communion with God, with others and with creation.
